Buy Cubic Zirconia Rings that look real

So realistic cubic zirconia rings are popular for lots of uses – but how do you identify cz rings of high quality?

But before you start shopping it’s important you understand that not all Cubic Zirconia engagement rings are of the same standard.  Many products look “obviously fake” because they use low quality stones which are poorly cut, cloudy and dull.

We automatically associate engagement rings with the image of a diamond solitaire. Sparkly, durable, precious and naturally produced by the earth over many thousands of years.

However, if you trawl Pinterest or Google for engagement ring ideas you will see an abundance of alternatives. Diamond alternatives include lab created or synthetic diamond, Moissanite, Cubic Zirconia (CZ), white topaz, crystal and even glass.

Therefore, read on to understand how to identify and buy cubic zirconia rings of high quality.

Choose a ring which uses high quality CZ

Cubic zirconia rings that look real use the highest quality materials.  It is a common misconception that all cubic zirconia (CZ) stones are the same.

Cubic zirconia (also known as CZ) is a synthetic crystalline substance used as an alternative to diamonds.  The man-made material is colorless, hard, and flawless.  Its popularity stems from its similarity to diamonds in brilliance and crystal clarity while still being affordable.

Historically cubic zirconia began being produced in the 1970’s due to its diamond-like qualities, low cost, and overall durability.  Today cubic zirconia has become one of the most popular stones used in jewelry to create attractive yet inexpensive pieces.

It’s a common misconception that all Cubic Zirconia (CZ) stones are the same.  Just like Diamonds, there are a number of Quality Levels, and there is a range of price points for these beautiful diamond look-alikes.

VIDEO:   Cubic zirconia rings that look real demand CZ of the highest standard.   But that’s not enough.  The quality of the cut must also be excellent.   The Luxuria brand D’Promesso engagement ring for example features a round cut stone with an ideal hearts and arrows pattern.

Like diamond, cubic zirconia stones are graded according to carat, color, clarity and cut.  However, they use a different scale of A to AAAAAA, A being the lowest and Grade 6A CZ being the highest.  While 6A is the best grade among machine-cut CZ, even higher grading is possible via hand-cut.  Hand-cut cubic zirconia quality is dependent on the technique and the experience of the professional cutting the stone.  A hand-cut CZ, cut with improper technique will not have the brilliance of a diamond.  This is why it’s so important, when shopping for the most realistic CZ rings to purchase from a reputable jeweler.  Not all suppliers declare the CZ grade.  Therefore, dig for more details in product descriptions or FAQ sections of websites or ask the jeweler for details.

If cut properly, a hand-cut cubic zirconia will have the same luminocity of fine diamond and are virtually indistinguishable from a diamond with the naked eye. Only your jeweler can tell the difference!

Cubic zirconia engagement rings that look real use quality materials

If you are wanting a CZ ring for engagement ring use (temporary or longer) than quality is very important. Cubic zirconia engagement rings that look real always use quality materials. In addition to using high grade cubic zirconia the most realistic cubic zirconia engagement rings also use precious metals.

Typically the cubic zirconia will be set in nickel free sterling silver. Silver is a precious metal. Higher quality CZ engagement rings will also be plated. Usually the plating is another precious metal, a member of the platinum family called Rhodium.

A key benefit of rhodium plating is longevity. Rhodium adds resistance against scrapes and scratches. Another advantage is that the rhodium is hypoallergenic. This means the ring is less likely to cause skin irritations for women with sensitive skin. Such irritations could include itching, redness, tenderness, swelling, and warmth to the exposed area.

PHOTO:  Cubic zirconia rings that look real from Luxuria® do so because they use very high grade diamond simulants.  Seen here is a 3 carat cubic zirconia ring from Luxuria Diamonds.  This 3 carat cz ring features a round cut central stone with a special Hearts & Arrows cut pattern.  Hearts and arrows diamonds (“H&A”) are the most optically precise round brilliant cut diamonds, making up the top 1% of round cut diamonds.  Cz engagement rings that look real typically use grade 6A H&A cubic zirconia, the most realistic cubic zirconia, to best imitate natural diamond.

Most cubic zirconia stones are white in colour, the equivalent of a perfect white diamond.  Coloured CZ is also available and low quality variants generally have some colour irregularities.

Clarity refers to the cloudiness (or lack thereof) of a stone, as well as its flaws. Cubic zirconia is rarely, if ever, cloudy or flawed.  While the most realistic CZ rings will always use top quality cubic zirconia please be aware this is not universal.   It is not uncommon for some cheap fake engagement rings to use low grade CZ.  This is certainly true some Chinese made CZ engagement rings which you see on Amazon and eBay for US$20.   Low grade CZ scratches more easily, has a lower cut quality and thus will not sparkle as well.    Sometimes cheap engagement rings use inferior crystal or glass in place of CZ.   Indeed, its perfection that’s the most common giveaway that cubic zirconia is not a real diamond.  Diamonds have flaws since they are naturally occurring gemstones.

We use only the very best diamond simulants, all top graded in cut, colour and clarity. With Luxuria®, the very highest standard comes as standard.

Cubic Zirconia rings that look real are faceted in the same manner as Diamonds.  There’s a variety of cuts that are used for different shapes.   The skill of the stone cutter is paramount to the final appearance of the stone.  Each stone has its own personality.  It’s the stone cutter’s job to evaluate the gem as part of the cutting process.  He will cut the facets to bring out the best features of each stone.  The cut of a stone determines how it refracts light.   A well-cut, high-quality stone will be cut in a way to provide as much white light (“ice”) as possible.  Conversely, the more coloured-light (“fire”) a stone refracts, the lower the quality of the stone.

A high quality cut is needed for cubic zirconia rings to look real

The diamond cut is the most important element to consider when buying a diamond.  This is because a diamond’s cut determines how much light the stone reflects.   The cut is the biggest factor in creating brilliance, fire, and scintillation.   Without a high cut grade even a diamond of otherwise high quality in color and clarity can appear dull and lifeless.

The same holds true for diamond simulants such as cubic zirconia.   In order to produce cubic zirconia rings that look real, the CZ cut must be optimal.   By optimal we mean that careful attention must be applied to proportions, symmetry and polish.  To achieve the level of optical precision and symmetry necessary for hearts and arrows requires skill and time. For these reasons H&A cubic zirconia rings are significantly more costly to produce.

Rising to this challenge Luxuria® Diamonds round cut stones with our LUX hallmark not only exceed 5A grading but feature an eight hearts and eight arrows star pattern.  The symmetric facet pattern of H&A creates clear areas of contrast and brightness.    This results in more intense flashes of light and cubic zirconia rings that look real.   In fact, our simulants are visibly whiter and brighter than many diamonds you’ll find mounted in your typical ‘middle market’ engagement ring.   Some jewelers have difficulty telling our H&A cubic zirconia stones apart from naturally mined diamond.

ILLUSTRATION:  CZ rings that look real tend to use high quality H & A cubic zirconia.   When unmounted and using a special viewer our LUX hallmark round CZ stones will show eight arrows. The optical symmetry of the dark arrows creates an exaggerated contrast. The distinction between the whiter areas and the darker areas results in more intense flashes of light.

Luxuria® Cubic Zirconia engagement rings which have the LUX hallmark surpass industry standards for AAAAA.   The CZ used is near colorless (D color) and internally flawless (IF).   Many of the round CZ stones feature an ideal cut to “Hearts and Arrows” for maximum fire.  Don’t settle for less.

Hello Earl. We do make stud earrings but only sell them wholesale to jewelry stores. We recommend you sight earrings prior to purchase because they are not generally a returnable item due to hygiene reasons.
