RITZ

Kite shaped engagement rings are a perfect choice for brides looking for an unusual fancy-shaped diamond engagement ring.  As their name suggests a kite ring looks like a traditional kite flying high in the sky.  Kite engagement rings usually have four straight edges: two short and two long.  But kite shaped rings can vary dramatically depending on the cut.  Elongated kite shaped engagement rings might look a bit like shield cut diamonds while others look exactly like a kite we might have flown during childhood.

Some Kite rings are more symmetrical and have a more of a diamond shape like this particular ring, the RITZ, from the glamourous Luxuria Diamonds brand.

Kite shapes diamonds are one of the oldest “fancy” cut diamonds known in the jewelry industry.  Kite diamonds had their heyday in the 1920s and 30s during the Art Deco period.   But the problem kite rings is that the old step cut doesn’t sparkle nearly as much as brilliant cuts do.  Because round brilliant cut diamonds have the largest number of facets, they create the most sparkle.   The round diamond cut was engineered to have the strongest possible sparkle from its inception.

This got us thinking.   What if we could come up with a kite shaped engagement ring which used round cut stones carefully placed so the overall silhouette shape still looked like a kite?    From this idea the Ritz was born.

To achieve amazing brilliance the kite engagement ring uses five round brilliant cut stones.   So spending every dime is not necessary we’ve used grade 6A cubic zirconia to imitate diamond.  The large stone in these kite shape cubic zirconia engagement rings has an equivalent diamond weight of approx. 1.67 carats.    To achieve a cohesive look four (4) small diamond simulants each of approx. 0.03 carats are used at the four points.   In total this 5 stone ring has a 1.79 ctw (approx.)

Stone cut and quality is extremely important for the kite set round cut cz engagement ring.  The round cut central stone is 6A cubic zirconia with a special Star cut.  The cut when seen through a viewer has a Hearts and Arrows (H&A) pattern with eight hearts and eight arrows.   This is typically only found in real diamonds that meet the American Gem Society Laboratories’ “0” Ideal Cut specifications.  Furthermore, the central stone is near colorless (D in color) and internally flawless (IF).

There is a real benefit of H&A patterning to the consumer.  That benefit comes in the form of superior light performance.   According to fine jeweler Whiteflash, the light performance is maximized by the precise alignment of the facets which form the system of tiny mirrors that refract and reflect light to the eye of the observer.   This increases both fire and scintillation of the kite ring.

This kite set round cut CZ engagement ring is also loaded with symbolic meaning.   With 5 stone rings the main stone is said to represent love.    The four supporting stones represent the qualities needed in a loving relationship; commitment, trust, communication and empathy.

The Luxuria® kite ring is set in precious 925 silver.   Luxuria is careful to use quality silver alloy which is nickel free.  Furthermore, this sterling silver kite shaped engagement ring is also plated in precious white rhodium.  Rhodium is a very expensive precious metal, being a rarest member of the platinum family.  A benefit of using expensive rhodium plating is that it’s hypoallergenic.  This means you are unlikely to get skin reactions by wearing rhodium plated jewelry.  This is because rhodium does not contain any allergens such as nickel.  The rhodium used on these kite shape cubic zirconia engagement rings also increases the luster and light reflection of the jewelry.

Proudly bearing our LUX makers mark, the band width of the kite shaped engagement ring is approx. 2.5mm.    The top face width is approx. 11mm.   The Kite ring weighs an overall approx. 3.3 grams (ref. USA size 7) and is available (subject to stock) in USA ring sizes from 4 to 10.  Alternative rings with a smaller top face are the Luxuria® VITTORIA, silver princess cut engagement rings.
